Weather Policies We are a RAIN or SHINE market. *If poor weather is predicted, please plan to to be ready to quickly pack up and make sure everything is staked down in windier conditions.
There's an alarm at borough hall. If there's lightning, we will all hear the alarm and everyone needs to clear out/wait in their cars or the borough hall building for 1/2 hour.
Plan A: If after 1/2 hour there is no more lightning and the weather is clear, we will continue.
Plan B: If a 2nd lightning alarm goes off toward the end of the first 1/2 hour and it looks like it's not going to let up, we will close the market.
Plan C: If the weather is unpredictable, we will wait a complete hour before making the call to close the market - or keep it open. You (the vendors) will have the option to leave after a half hour of waiting.
If a windy day is predicted, or we set-up on a windy day...
COMMERCIAL Tent frames should be set-up WITHOUT TOPS (No covers that act as sails). Inexpensive tent frames should NOT go up. They bend and break in the wind.
Anything that could blow into the crowds or hurt someone should be secured.
If winds become dangerous (heavy objects can fly off tables and hurt someone, or people are getting blown around, the market must close.
